| The scientific cruise Observhal98 took place in Biscay Bay, May 14 to June 6, 1998, with the submersible Nautile operated from the research vessel Nadir. The goal was to make direct underwater observations on fishes and invertebrates of commercial interest, on the environment in which they live and on the impact of fishing gears. A total of 22 dives, 2 to 5 hours long have been operated, ten by depth 1800 to 1000 m, three by 500 to 200 m, seven by 80 to 200 m and two in the water column. | Depuis une vingtaine d'années, l'Ifremer organise des campagnes de pêche scientifique en mer du Nord, Manche, Atlantique et Méditerranée concernant les ressources pélagiques, démersales et benthiques. L'objectif prioritaire est de produire des indices d'abondance des principales espèces commerciales. Elles recueillent également des données sur les espèces capturées non commerciales. Les campagnes sont réalisées selon des plans d'échantillonnage standardisés. L'engin de pêche et son gréement, la position des stations, le tri des captures, les prélèvements biologiques suivent des protocoles fixés. | Introduction : Intra-basin fishing is not grasped as well, partly because of a lack of distinction between pure professional fishing units and conchological units and on the other hand because of the large amount of ships. Poorly adapted codification of the equipment found in the basin is also contributing to this lack of information. | Fishing activity in the french mediterranean lagoon Etang de Berre is actually allowed in spite of a degradation of the environment during the last fifty years. To analyse the results and the working of the fishery, a study based on a sampling survey of catches and fishing effort has been conducted in the various landing ports over a two years period. Annual weight and value productions by species and gear have been evaluated by mean of statistical calculation procedures. The results show that the fishery is based on the exploitation of two main species (anguilla and grey mullet) and that important variations exist between the two sampled years. The limits to be reached by the working of this fishery are prompted in the scope of a future regulation. |

| Une simulation 'hindcast' de la dynamique physique et biogéochimique du golfe de Gascogne a été réalisée pour la période 1971-2007 à l'aide du modèle ECO-MARS3D. Ce modèle couplant physique et biogéochimie fournit une série longue de données simulées, moyennées ou intégrées sur 3 jours (température, salinité, sels nutritifs, phytoplancton, zooplancton), qui sont ensuite utilisées pour des calculs d'indices hydrologiques 2D synthétiques (indices méso-échelle : stratification, upwellings, surface tourbillonnaire ; indices biologiques : chlorophylle-a de surface, production primaire intégrée).
